As parents, we think we have control over our children. We think we are doing are best to raise them right. We think that we are teaching our little ones to be obedient...and then we take them to the library. Can you say reality check? My goodness, yes!
There are certain places in which taking 6 boys presents a challenge. They are good kids, they really are. But certain pairings of certain ages simply don't do well in certain settings. A 13 yr old and 11 yr old cannot handle a children's museum together. Separately they'd be fine. A 4 yr old and a 2 yr old cannot handle a library together. And especially not when they find Star Wars books on the shelves to read. The books become light sabers.
A 2 year old in a library is like a pyromaniac in a fireworks stand. They just can't control themselves! Books, books, books! Did you know it's a contest to see how many books you can pull off the shelves before Mom & Dad can catch you?
Perhaps we are every librarian's nightmare. Perhaps we are welcome entertainement on an otherwise monotonous day. Perhaps we are providing job security for those librarians. These things I don't know. But what I do know and I do love is seeing the wide eyes peering into the pages of books and I know that the trip to the library was worth it. The ice cream cone at the end of the day helps too!

I still have dear in the headlight eyes
Is this an intentional pun?
Thanks for daring to go on those outings with the kids. Some people would say it was too difficult, but the example you are setting for your children is wonderful. Im very happy not being a librarian. Picking up books and putting them away was always my least favorite task.
