The BEST Valentine's Surprise!

Yesterday for Valentine's Day Todd surprised me with a "Heart Attack". I should have taken a picture, whoops! "Heart Attacks" are kind of a tradition around here. The idea is to look as if hearts have taken over a room or area. You can add streamers and confetti to dress it up too! But mostly it's hundreds of hearts cut out, hanging, tossed, and taped to decorate a place. It was something that some friends and I used to do for our guy friends pre-marriage. They always got a kick out of it. I did it for Todd the first year we were married. We've done it for the kids, and Todd and the boys have done it for me.

My most favorite "Heart Attack" of all, was when J & C were 4 & 2 yrs old. It's still one of my favorite memories as a mother. Todd woke the boys up early to decorate the place. They decorated the living room and Todd instructed them to not wake me up that morning. They always woke me up as soon as they got up. He left for work around 7am. He turned on the tv to entertain them, thinking it would probably only last about 5-10 minutes. 1 1/2 hours later, I wake up!!! I look at the clock and it says 8:30! The house is totally quiet! I just can't believe the boys slept in so long. I walk down the hall, and out from behind the couch jump J & C and shout "SURPRISE"! Boy was I surprised! I knew Todd had to have been behind this. J had decided that the TV would be too noisy and might wake me up, so he talked his 2 year old brother into waiting quietly until I woke up! I couldn't believe it. I called Todd right away and we both laughed. I have no idea how too small children came up with such patience to sit quietly in a room and wait for me to wake up for so long of a time! I guess they really loved their Mom and wanted it to be a big surprise!
